Category: Traffic Shaping

Description: Monitors WAN optimization performance and policy statistics on Exinda Networks appliances.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EXINDA-MIB?

EXINDA-MIB is the vendor MIB for Exinda Networks WAN optimization and application performance monitoring appliances, used in the network optimization/traffic-shaping technology space. It exposes system identification data (hardware series, licensed model, software version, host ID), configuration state, and system-level performance counters such as CPU load. The MIB is explicitly geared toward monitoring hardware and software status: it surfaces systemUptime for availability tracking, systemVersion for software/firmware version auditing, and cpuLoad1/cpuLoad5/cpuLoad15 for real-time CPU load averages analogous to Unix load averages. As a standalone enterprise MIB it does not appear to lean on other IETF MIBs for its core objects, defining its own system/cpu object groups. It is typically deployed by network engineers managing WAN acceleration appliances at branch or data-center edges to ensure the optimization appliance itself is healthy and correctly configured. Engineers can download the EXINDA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXINDA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Exinda Networks WAN optimization appliance

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cpu.cpuLoad1, cpuLoad5, and cpuLoad15 to track short/medium/long-term CPU utilization on the Exinda appliance, alerting if sustained high load suggests the box is struggling to keep up with traffic optimization. systemInfo.systemUptime would be checked to detect unexpected reboots, while systemVersion and hardwareSeries/licensedModel confirm the running firmware and license tier match expectations. configUnsavedChanges flags whether pending configuration edits have not yet been committed, useful before assuming a config change took effect.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CPU load (1/5/15 min)
  • system uptime
  • software/firmware version
  • hardware series/licensed model
  • unsaved configuration changes
  • system time zone
