etsysRip2ExtTriggeredDelayMin

Module: ENTERASYS-RIPv2-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-RIPv2-EXT-MIB::etsysRip2ExtTriggeredDelayMin

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.66.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The lower bound of the random time period that RIP waits between sending Triggered Updates.

A change to this value takes effect after the next Triggered Update is sent.

This value MUST be less than etsysRip2ExtTriggeredDelayMax.

What is etsysRip2ExtTriggeredDelayMin?

This sets, in seconds, the minimum bound of the randomized delay RIP waits before sending a triggered update after a route change. Admins tune this, together with the maximum delay, to control how quickly RIP reacts to topology changes while still avoiding update storms from synchronized triggered updates. This value must stay below etsysRip2ExtTriggeredDelayMax, so an admin lowering it to 1 second ensures RIP can react to route changes almost immediately at the earliest.
