Description: The period from the point of the last refresh after which a route received from a peer times out and is marked as expired.

This period is expressed as a multiple of the etsysRip2ExtRouteCheckInterval.

A change to this value takes effect at the next scheduled route check.

What is etsysRip2ExtRouteExpiryInterval?

This sets how long, expressed as a multiple of the route check interval, a route can go without a refresh from its peer before RIP marks it expired. Admins tune this to control how quickly RIP considers a peer's route stale after updates stop arriving, balancing fast failure detection against tolerance for missed updates. With the default of 180, given a 1-second check interval, a RIP route that hasn't been refreshed in 3 minutes gets marked as expired.
