Description: The maximum number of equal-cost next hops that RIP can program in the Routing Table Manager.

Changing this value causes RIP to refresh all of its routes in the Routing Table Manager with the new maximum number of equal-cost next hops.

What is etsysRip2ExtMaxEcmpHops?

This sets the maximum number of equal-cost next hops RIP is allowed to install in the routing table for a given destination. Admins tune this to control how much load-balancing RIP performs across multiple equal-cost paths, and changing it causes RIP to refresh all its routes with the new maximum. An admin with three equal-cost links to a destination would need etsysRip2ExtMaxEcmpHops set to at least 3 for RIP to use all three paths simultaneously.
