etsysHauSystemHauMode

Module: ENTERASYS-HIGH-AVAILABILITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-HIGH-AVAILABILITY-MIB::etsysHauSystemHauMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.84.1.2.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: EtsysHauMode

Access: read-write

Description: The desired mode of operation to attempt to use when performing a reset.

When set to hauNever(1) a high-availability upgrade will never be performed. Instead a standard upgrade will be performed.

When set to hauIfPossible(2) a high-availability upgrade will be performed if the current and target images are compatible, otherwise a standard upgrade will be performed.

When set to hauAlways(3) a high-availability upgrade will always be performed. If the current and target images are incompatible then no upgrade will occur.

What is etsysHauSystemHauMode?

This read-write object selects the device's policy for whether to attempt a high-availability upgrade on reset: hauNever(1) always performs a standard upgrade, hauIfPossible(2) uses HA only when the current and target images are compatible, and hauAlways(3) requires HA compatibility or skips the upgrade entirely. Admins choose hauIfPossible for the best of both worlds, minimal-disruption upgrades when supported, falling back to a standard upgrade otherwise, while hauAlways guarantees no disruptive standard upgrade ever happens silently. Setting etsysHauSystemHauMode to hauIfPossible(2) lets the switch automatically use the low-disruption HA upgrade path whenever the new firmware supports it, falling back to a normal reboot-based upgrade when it doesn't.
