etsysEncrDot1xRekeyPeriod

Module: ENTERASYS-ENCR-8021X-REKEYING-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-ENCR-8021X-REKEYING-MIB::etsysEncrDot1xRekeyPeriod

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.20.1.1.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: An encrypted version of etsysDot1xRekeyPeriod.

When rapid rekeying (periodic changing of radio keys) is enabled, the value of this object determines the period, in seconds, between key changes.

The data type is 1, Integer32.

What is etsysEncrDot1xRekeyPeriod?

This object is an encrypted representation of the underlying etsysDot1xRekeyPeriod value, which sets how many seconds elapse between automatic radio encryption key changes when rapid rekeying is enabled. An administrator tunes this interval to balance security, since shorter periods reduce the window an attacker has to crack a static key, against the overhead of frequent key redistribution to all clients. With the documented default of 1800 seconds (30 minutes), an access point using rapid rekeying would rotate its radio keys roughly every half hour.
