etsysEncrDot1xRekeyAsymmetric

Module: ENTERASYS-ENCR-8021X-REKEYING-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-ENCR-8021X-REKEYING-MIB::etsysEncrDot1xRekeyAsymmetric

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.20.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: An encrypted version of etsysDot1xRekeyAsymmetric.

Determines the association between the supplicant and authenticator transmit keys.

If true(1), the authenticator and supplicant will use different encryption keys in order to transmit data.

If false(2), the authenticator and supplicant will use a single key pattern to encrypt the transmitted data.

The data type is 1, Integer32.

What is etsysEncrDot1xRekeyAsymmetric?

This object is an encrypted representation of the underlying etsysDot1xRekeyAsymmetric setting, which determines whether the supplicant and authenticator use different transmit encryption keys, asymmetric, or share a single key pattern, symmetric, for the data they each send. An administrator enables asymmetric mode for stronger security, since each direction of traffic uses its own distinct key rather than a shared one both directions rely on. With the documented default of true (asymmetric), client and access point transmit keys would differ from each other under typical rapid rekeying operation.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.20.1.1.1.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ENTERASYS-ENCR-8021X-REKEYING-MIB::etsysEncrDot1xRekeyAsymmetric

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.20.1.1.1.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ENTERASYS-ENCR-8021X-REKEYING-MIB::etsysEncrDot1xRekeyAsymmetric.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.20.1.1.1.1.4.1 s <value>
