Module: ENTERASYS-DVMRP-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-DVMRP-EXT-MIB::etsysDvmrpExtTibMgrSGStateLimit

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The maximum number of {source, group} pairs for which the DVMRP TIB Manager is allowed to store non-interface specific (S,G) state. A value of zero means that there is no limit.

What is etsysDvmrpExtTibMgrSGStateLimit?

This read-write Unsigned32 caps the maximum number of non-interface-specific (S,G) source-group pairs the DVMRP TIB Manager is allowed to store, with 0 meaning no limit is enforced. An admin sets a nonzero limit to protect the router's memory and CPU from being exhausted by an excessive number of multicast source-group states, such as during a multicast flood or misconfiguration elsewhere in the domain. For example, setting this to 5000 on a router with limited memory would cap TIB growth even if far more (S,G) pairs are being advertised in the domain.
