etsysDvmrpExtTibMgrKeepalivePeriod

Module: ENTERASYS-DVMRP-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-DVMRP-EXT-MIB::etsysDvmrpExtTibMgrKeepalivePeriod

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.69.1.2.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The amount of time to keep (S,G) state alive in the absence of DVMRP (S,G) Join messages or (S,G) data packets.

Note: Configuring different values for this object for different routers in the DVRMP domain may lead to incorrect protocol operation.

What is etsysDvmrpExtTibMgrKeepalivePeriod?

This read-write Unsigned32, in seconds, sets how long the DVMRP Tree Information Base (TIB) Manager keeps a source-group (S,G) route alive without receiving further DVMRP Join messages or data packets for it. An admin tunes it to control how quickly stale multicast forwarding state is purged versus how tolerant the router is of brief gaps in traffic or Joins, and the MIB warns that mismatched values across routers in the same DVMRP domain can cause incorrect protocol behavior. For example, lowering the default 120 seconds on a router with many short-lived multicast streams would free up TIB resources faster.
