eltOspfAuthKey

Module: ELTEX-MES-IpRouter

OID (symbolic): ELTEX-MES-IpRouter::eltOspfAuthKey

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.35265.1.23.91.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: The MD5 Authentication Key. If the Area's Authorization Type is md5, and the key length is shorter than 16 octets, the agent will left adjust and zero fill to 16 octets. When read, snOspfIfMd5AuthKey always returns an Octet String of length zero.

What is eltOspfAuthKey?

This object holds the actual MD5 authentication key used to sign OSPF packets on the interface; if a configured key is shorter than 16 octets the device left-adjusts and zero-fills it, and reading this object back always returns a zero-length string for security. An administrator writes a shared secret here that must match the same key configured on OSPF neighbors, since mismatched keys will prevent adjacency formation. Setting this to a secret string shared with a neighboring router lets that pair authenticate their OSPF exchanges via MD5, while anyone reading the object afterward sees only an empty value.
