eltArpInterfaceArpLocalProxy
Module: ELTEX-ARP-INTERFACE-TABLE-MIB
OID (symbolic): ELTEX-ARP-INTERFACE-TABLE-MIB::eltArpInterfaceArpLocalProxy
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.35265.1.23.91.3.1.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: When Local ARP Proxy is enabled, the router can respond to ARP requests for nodes located on a same sub-net, provided they are it its network table. The router responds with its own MAC address. When ARP Proxy is disabled, the router responds only to ARP requests for its own IP addresses.
What is eltArpInterfaceArpLocalProxy?
This object, defaulting to disable(2), controls whether the router acts as a local ARP proxy on a given interface, answering ARP requests on behalf of other nodes in its own network table that share the same subnet using its own MAC address. Administrators enable it in scenarios like private VLANs or split subnets, where hosts on the same IP subnet cannot reach each other directly at layer 2 and need the router to bridge ARP resolution between them. Setting it to enable(1) would let two hosts on an isolated private-VLAN pair still resolve each other's MAC addresses through the router instead of failing to communicate.
