Category: Novelty / Humor

Description: A humorous joke MIB containing novelty SNMP objects with no operational network management purpose.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EASTER-EGG-MIB?

EASTER-EGG-MIB is described as a humorous joke MIB module containing novelty SNMP objects included purely for entertainment, with no operational network-management purpose. It does not expose genuine categories of operational data such as interfaces, environment, performance counters, or real fault/trap conditions — any objects it defines are novelty placeholders rather than meaningful telemetry. Consequently it has no legitimate role in monitoring real hardware or software status (no true uptime, temperature, CPU/memory, or service-status data), and any resemblance to such objects would be a joke rather than functional. It has no meaningful dependency on other standard MIBs beyond whatever minimal SMI imports are required for it to compile as a valid MIB. It would only be encountered as an easter-egg curiosity bundled with certain SNMP agent implementations or MIB collections, not deployed for genuine device management — this EASTER-EGG-MIB guide exists purely to document that novelty rather than any real monitoring capability.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EASTER-EGG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral novelty/joke MIB, not tied to a real device

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no real runtime data objects and no sample object names were provided; being an explicitly "humorous joke" MIB with no operational purpose, it should not be used to construct or imply any real monitoring scenario.
