What Is E5-110-TRAPS-MIB?

E5-110-TRAPS-MIB defines trap/alarm notifications for the Calix E5-110 access platform, a broadband access node used by service providers to deliver DSL/fiber access services. It exposes an alarm table capturing the affected managed object class and instance identifiers (up to eight instance dimensions), plus the alarm type, for fault conditions occurring on the platform. This is fundamentally a fault/alarm MIB used for monitoring hardware and software health: it lets an operator see which object -- a line card, port, or software process, for example -- raised an alarm, what specific instance was affected, and what kind of alarm/severity it represents, enabling rapid fault detection across the platform. It depends on Calix's broader E5-110 object model, since e5AlarmObjectClass and the instance fields reference objects defined elsewhere in the platform's MIB set. It is typically deployed by broadband service providers operating Calix E5-110 access platforms in central offices or remote terminals to receive real-time fault notifications from the field. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the E5-110-TRAPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in E5-110-TRAPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Calix E5-110 broadband access platform

Monitoring Examples

When a fault occurs, an NMS would receive a trap referencing an entry in e5AlarmTable, reading e5AlarmObjectClass and the e5AlarmObjectInstance1 through e5AlarmObjectInstance8 fields to identify exactly which line card, port, or subsystem triggered the alarm, and e5AlarmType to classify the fault, such as a line-card failure or a loss-of-signal condition. This lets operators pinpoint and triage hardware or service-affecting faults on the E5-110 platform quickly.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active alarm entries and object class/instance
  • alarm type/severity
  • faulted line card, port, or subsystem identification
