Description: Dell-IpRouter module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Dell-IpRouter?

Dell-IpRouter (documented internally as the RND router MIB) is a Dell-branded private MIB, historically associated with routers derived from RADCOM/RND platforms, that manages RIPv2 routing protocol configuration on router interfaces. It exposes a per-interface RIPv2 configuration table covering the bound address, administrative status, route filtering (inbound/outbound filter type and named filter lists), default-route origination, and authentication key-chain association. This is primarily a routing-protocol configuration MIB rather than a hardware-status one: its monitoring value lies in confirming that RIPv2 is administratively enabled on the correct interfaces and that route filters and default-origination settings match the intended routing policy, since a misconfigured filter or disabled interface would explain missing or unexpected routes. It builds on the standard RIPv2 MIB object model (RFC 1724) with vendor-specific filtering and key-chain extensions (rlRip2IfConf* objects). It is deployed on Dell/RND routers running RIPv2 in small-to-medium enterprise or branch-office IP networks. Engineers can download the Dell-IpRouter file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Dell-IpRouter. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell/RND router running RIPv2

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll rlRip2IfConfAdminStatus in rsRip2IfConfTable/rsRip2IfConfEntry to confirm RIPv2 is enabled on the expected interfaces, keyed by rsRip2IfConfAddress. rlRip2IfConfInFilteringType/rlRip2IfConfInFilterListName and their outbound counterparts would be checked to verify the correct route filter lists are applied, explaining why certain routes are being suppressed from a neighbor. rlRip2IfConfKeyChain would be checked to confirm RIP authentication is tied to the correct key chain, and rlRip2IfConfDefInfOriginate would show whether the router is configured to originate a default route into RIP.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RIPv2 interface administrative status
  • inbound/outbound route filter configuration
  • default route origination setting
  • RIP authentication key chain association
