docsIfMCmtsChannelBlockMute

Module: DOCS-IF-M-CMTS-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOCS-IF-M-CMTS-MIB::docsIfMCmtsChannelBlockMute

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4491.2.1.6.1.3.5.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: The Mute control object for the Block Channel A set to this object to 'true' is reflected in ifOperStatus set to 'down' of the QAM channels associated to the block Channel. The opposite, a set to this object to 'false', is not necessarily reflected as ifOperStatus set to 'up' since other interface conditions might prevent such status.

What is docsIfMCmtsChannelBlockMute?

A true/false switch that silences (mutes) every QAM channel in this channel block by driving their ifOperStatus to 'down'; setting it back to false doesn't guarantee ifOperStatus flips back to 'up' if other conditions are still blocking the interface. An operator uses this to take a whole block of channels offline at once for maintenance, e.g. before physically reseating a line card.
