docsDevCmNotifControl

Module: DOCS-IETF-CABLE-DEVICE-NOTIFICATION-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOCS-IETF-CABLE-DEVICE-NOTIFICATION-MIB::docsDevCmNotifControl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.132.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-write

Description: The object is used to enable specific CM notifications. For example, if the first bit is set, then docsDevCmInitTLVUnknownNotif is enabled. If it is not set, the notification is disabled. Note that notifications are also under the control of the MIB modules defined in RFC3413.

If the device is rebooted,the value of this object SHOULD revert to the default value.

What is docsDevCmNotifControl?

This BITS object is the standardized (RFC-aligned) counterpart used to selectively enable individual SNMP notifications a cable modem can send, such as DHCP failures or dynamic service request failures, and it also depends on the SNMP notification MIBs from RFC3413 actually being configured to deliver them. An operator turns on only the bits for conditions worth an alert, and because the spec says the value should revert to its default after a reboot, any custom notification selection needs to be reapplied or persisted by the device's own configuration save mechanism. As an example, if only bit 7 (cmDHCPFailNotif) is set, the modem will emit a notification specifically when it fails to obtain its DHCP lease, while all other listed conditions stay quiet.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.132.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DOCS-IETF-CABLE-DEVICE-NOTIFICATION-MIB::docsDevCmNotifControl

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.132.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DOCS-IETF-CABLE-DEVICE-NOTIFICATION-MIB::docsDevCmNotifControl.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.132.1.1.1 s <value>
