docsDevCmtsTrapControl

Module: DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB::docsDevCmtsTrapControl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.69.2.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-write

Description: The object is used to enable CMTS traps. From left to right, the set bit indicates the corresponding CMTS trap is enabled. For example, if the first bit is set, then docsDevCmtsInitRegRspFailTrap is enabled. If it is zero, the trap is disabled.

What is docsDevCmtsTrapControl?

This is a 12-bit BITS flag field controlling which SNMP traps the head-end CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) is allowed to emit, covering registration failures, BPI initialization problems, and dynamic-channel-change (DCC) issues. A cable operator enables just the bits corresponding to CMTS-side failure conditions they want surfaced in their monitoring system, since a CMTS handling thousands of modems can generate a flood of alerts otherwise. For instance, turning on bit 9 (cmtsDCCReqFailTrap) means the CMTS will trap only when a dynamic channel change request fails, leaving unrelated events like BPI key exchange failures silent.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB::docsDevCmtsTrapControl

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.69.2.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB::docsDevCmtsTrapControl.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.69.2.1.1.2.1 s <value>
