docsDevCmTrapControl
Module: DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB
OID (symbolic): DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB::docsDevCmTrapControl
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.69.2.1.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Bits
Access: read-write
Description: The object is used to enable CM traps. From left to right, the set bit indicates the corresponding CM trap is enabled. For example, if the first bit is set, then docsDevCmInitTLVUnknownTrap is enabled. If it is zero, the trap is disabled.
What is docsDevCmTrapControl?
This is a 16-bit BITS flag field where each individual bit turns one specific cable modem (CM) SNMP trap on or off, covering things like failed dynamic service requests, BPI key management failures, and firmware upgrade problems. An administrator sets the bits that matter for their monitoring needs so the modem only raises traps for events they actually want to be alerted on, cutting down on trap noise. For example, setting only bit 0 (cmInitTLVUnknownTrap) means the CM sends a trap solely when it encounters an unrecognized configuration TLV at registration, while leaving every other CM trap, such as software-upgrade failure, disabled.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.69.2.1.1.1 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB::docsDevCmTrapControl
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.69.2.1.1.1.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DOCS-CABLE-DEVICE-TRAP-MIB::docsDevCmTrapControl.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.69.2.1.1.1.1 s <value>
