dWebAuthVirtualIp

Module: DLINKSW-WEB-AUTH-MIB

OID (symbolic): DLINKSW-WEB-AUTH-MIB::dWebAuthVirtualIp

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.26.154.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InetAddressIPv4

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates the virtual IP address which is used to accept authentication requests from an unauthenticated host.

This virtual IP address is used to accept authentication requests from an unauthenticated host. Only requests sent to this IP will get a correct response.

NOTE: This IP does not respond to ARP requests or ICMP packets.

What is dWebAuthVirtualIp?

This object configures the virtual IPv4 address the switch uses to intercept and respond to authentication requests from clients that have not yet logged in. It matters operationally because only traffic sent to this specific address is answered with the login portal, and the address deliberately does not answer ARP or ICMP so it stays invisible to normal network scans. An admin might assign 1.1.1.1 as this virtual IP so unauthenticated hosts are transparently redirected to it for the captive portal page.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.26.154.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DLINKSW-WEB-AUTH-MIB::dWebAuthVirtualIp

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.26.154.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DLINKSW-WEB-AUTH-MIB::dWebAuthVirtualIp.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.26.154.1.3.1 s <value>
