Category: Vendor: D-Link
Description: D-Link 3100 end-of-MIB marker providing the sentinel object that terminates the D-Link 3100 MIB module collection.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DLINK-3100-ENDOFMIB-MIB?
This is a D-Link proprietary MIB module for the 3100 series switches that serves a purely structural purpose: it defines a single sentinel object marking the logical end of the D-Link 3100 private MIB tree. It exposes no functional monitoring data of its own, containing no interface, environmental, performance, or configuration objects. As such it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its only function is to act as an OID boundary marker used by MIB compilers and management tools to recognize the end of the vendor's private MIB collection. It has no dependency on other MIBs beyond the D-Link enterprise OID tree it terminates. It appears in the same MIB package as the other DLINK-3100 modules and is only relevant to tooling that walks or validates the full 3100 MIB set, not to operational monitoring. Engineers can download the DLINK-3100-ENDOFMIB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-ENDOFMIB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link 3100 series switches (MIB tooling/compiler context only)
Monitoring Examples
A MIB compiler or SNMP walk tool processing the full DLINK-3100 MIB package would encounter the rndEndOfMib object as the final leaf in the private enterprise tree, using its presence to confirm the MIB set has been loaded completely rather than for any operational polling. It carries no meaningful runtime value and is not something an administrator would monitor for anomalies.
What Can Be Monitored
- presence of end-of-MIB sentinel object
- MIB tree completeness marker
