Category: Protocol: DHCP, Vendor: D-Link

Description: D-Link 3100 DHCP client MIB providing objects to configure and monitor the DHCP client lease and address assignment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DLINK-3100-DHCPCL-MIB?

DLINK-3100-DHCPCL-MIB is a D-Link proprietary MIB for the DES/DGS-3100 switch series covering the device's DHCP client functionality, letting the switch itself obtain an IP address via DHCP. It exposes tables for DHCP client actions per interface, lease/address assignment results (address, mask, gateway), and an approval mechanism letting an administrator review and approve DHCP-assigned addresses before they take effect. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator monitor whether an interface's DHCP client action succeeded, what address/mask/gateway was actually assigned, and whether any DHCP-obtained address is pending approval -- effectively a network/software configuration health check for the switch's own management addressing. It is a D-Link private MIB but conceptually depends on the standard DHCP client protocol (RFC 2131) it implements. It is typically deployed on D-Link 3100-series managed switches in small-to-midsize network environments where the switch's management IP is obtained dynamically via DHCP rather than statically configured. Engineers can download the DLINK-3100-DHCPCL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-DHCPCL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link DES/DGS-3100 series managed switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll rlDhcpClActionTable/rlDhcpClActionStatus per rlDhcpClActionIfIndex to confirm the DHCP client action on a given interface succeeded, and if rlDhcpApprovalEnabled is set, check rlDhcpApprovalWaitingTable entries (rlDhcpApprovalWaitingAddress, rlDhcpApprovalWaitingMask, rlDhcpApprovalWaitingGateway) to see DHCP-offered addresses awaiting manual approval before being applied to the switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP client action status per interface
  • assigned IP address, mask, and gateway
  • pending DHCP address approval requests
  • DHCP client hostname
