traceRouteCtlByPassRouteTable

Module: DISMAN-TRACEROUTE-MIB

OID (symbolic): DISMAN-TRACEROUTE-MIB::traceRouteCtlByPassRouteTable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.81.1.2.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-create

Description: The purpose of this object is to enable optional bypassing the route table. If enabled, the remote host will bypass the normal routing tables and send directly to a host on an attached network. If the host is not on a directly attached network, an error is returned. This option can be used to perform the traceroute operation to a local host through an interface that has no route defined (e.g., after the interface was dropped by the routing daemon at the host).

What is traceRouteCtlByPassRouteTable?

When set true, tells the agent to skip its normal routing table and send probes directly to a host on a locally attached network, which is handy for tracing to a host through an interface whose route was just dropped by the routing daemon. Defaults to false.
