lookupMaxConcurrentRequests

Module: DISMAN-NSLOOKUP-MIB

OID (symbolic): DISMAN-NSLOOKUP-MIB::lookupMaxConcurrentRequests

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.82.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The maximum number of concurrent active lookup requests that are allowed within an agent implementation. A value of 0 for this object implies that there is no limit for the number of concurrent active requests in effect.

The limit applies only to new requests being activated. When a new value is set, the agent will continue processing all the requests already active, even if their number exceed the limit just imposed.

What is lookupMaxConcurrentRequests?

This value sets the maximum number of nslookup or resolver operations the agent will run at the same time, with 0 meaning no cap. It's a throttle admins tune to keep bulk hostname or address lookups from overwhelming the device's resolver, since the limit only applies to newly started requests -- lowering it won't kill lookups already running. For example, an admin might lower this to 5 to prevent a scripted sweep from flooding the lookupCtlTable, down from the built-in default of 10.

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.82.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DISMAN-NSLOOKUP-MIB::lookupMaxConcurrentRequests.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.82.1.1.1 i <value>
