diffServRandomDropInvWeight

Module: DIFF-SERV-MIB

OID (symbolic): DIFF-SERV-MIB::diffServRandomDropInvWeight

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.12345.2.9.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-create

Description: The weighting of past history in affecting the calculation of the current queue average. The moving average of the queue depth uses the inverse of this value as the factor for the new queue depth, and one minus that inverse as the factor for the historical average.

Implementations may choose to limit the acceptable set of values to a specified set, such as powers of 2.

What is diffServRandomDropInvWeight?

Controls how much weight past queue-depth history carries in the moving average used by the random-drop algorithm; the average is computed using the inverse of this value as the weighting factor for the newest sample. Some implementations restrict this to powers of two.
