dhcpv4RelayandServer

Module: DHCP-V4-RELAY-MIB

OID (symbolic): DHCP-V4-RELAY-MIB::dhcpv4RelayandServer

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.0.3.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The type of the Relay. The types are: (1) Acts only as DHCP Relay. (2) Acts as both as DHCP Relay and Server for independent networks

What is dhcpv4RelayandServer?

This read-write integer indicates whether the device operates purely as a DHCP relay agent or simultaneously acts as both a relay and a DHCP server for independent networks. Admins set this to reflect the device's deployment role, since a box configured as relayandServer(2) can answer DHCP requests locally for some networks while forwarding others upstream. For example, an admin would leave the value at relayOnly(1) on a branch router that only forwards client requests to a central DHCP server and never leases addresses itself.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.0.3.1.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DHCP-V4-RELAY-MIB::dhcpv4RelayandServer

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.0.3.1.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DHCP-V4-RELAY-MIB::dhcpv4RelayandServer.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.0.3.1.1.4.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> dhcpv4RelayandServer.1
