chassisCurrentCharacter

Module: DEVICE-MIB

OID (symbolic): DEVICE-MIB::chassisCurrentCharacter

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.1.2.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The character of the element that is currently being active.

What is chassisCurrentCharacter?

This read-only INTEGER shows which role — gne, ne, or sne — the chassis is actually operating as right now, as opposed to chassisCharacter which is the saved setting that only applies after a restart. Admins compare the two to see if a pending role change is still awaiting a reboot.
