Description: The character of the element that is saved in non volatile storage. This will take affect after next cold/warm start of the node.
What is chassisCharacter?
This read-write INTEGER sets the chassis role saved to non-volatile storage — gne (gateway network element), ne (network element), or sne (subtending network element) — and only takes effect after the next cold or warm restart. An admin changes this when re-purposing a box, e.g. promoting a subtending node to act as the ring's gateway element after a reboot.
