What Is DES3552P-L2MGMT-MIB?

DES3552P-L2MGMT-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from D-Link Corp. that models Layer 2 switch management for the DES-3552P family (and related DGS/DES switch projects such as DGS3700 and DES3400 referenced in its revision history). It defines the 'swL2MgmtMIB' structure under D-Link's SW3528PRIMGMT-MIB enterprise arm and exposes tables such as swL2PortInfoTable, swL2PortCtrlTable, swL2VlanStaticTable, swL2PortCableDiagnosisTable, swL2PortErrTable, swL2TrunkLACPPortTable, swL2IGMPCtrlTable and swL2QOSBandwidthControlTable, covering port state, VLAN membership, link aggregation, cable diagnostics, IGMP snooping, QoS scheduling, and port security. This gives network administrators fine-grained SNMP visibility into per-port switching behavior, multicast filtering, and traffic-control settings across the switch's 52 ports. It is deployed alongside D-Link's DLINK-ID-REC-MIB (for AgentNotifyLevel) and other companion MIBs like SubnetVLAN.mib that were split out of this module in later revisions. Because the module is large and covers many legacy switch generations, administrators can download the DES3552P-L2MGMT-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DES3552P-L2MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link DES-3552P switch
  • D-Link DES/DGS-3000 series switches (DES3400, DES3700, DGS3700)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls swL2PortErrTable (indexed by swL2PortErrPortIndex) alongside swL2PortCableDiagnosisTable to check per-port error counts and cable-pair diagnostics; a rising error count combined with an abnormal cable-diagnosis result on a specific port would indicate a failing cable or a bad transceiver on that port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port link/VLAN status (swL2PortInfoTable, swL2VlanStaticTable)
  • cable diagnostics (swL2PortCableDiagnosisTable)
  • port error counters (swL2PortErrTable)
  • link aggregation/LACP trunking (swL2TrunkLACPPortTable)
  • IGMP snooping and multicast filtering (swL2IGMPCtrlTable, swL2MulticastFilterProfileTable)
  • QoS bandwidth control and scheduling (swL2QOSBandwidthControlTable, swL2QOSSchedulingTable)
