swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps

Module: DES3200ME-28-L2MGMT-MIB

OID (symbolic): DES3200ME-28-L2MGMT-MIB::swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.10.113.1.6.2.1.2.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether the SNMP entity is permitted to generate authenticationFailure traps. The value of this object overrides any configuration information; as such, it provides a means whereby all authenticationFailure traps may be disabled.

Note that it is strongly recommended that this object be stored in non-volatile memory so that it remains constant across re-initializations of the network management system.

What is swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps?

Controls whether the switch is allowed to send SNMP authenticationFailure traps (enabled or disabled); it overrides any other trap configuration, so it is a master switch. Leave it enabled to be alerted when someone polls the switch with a wrong community string, and disable it if a scanner is flooding your trap receiver; the source recommends keeping it in non-volatile memory.
