swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps

Module: DES1228MEv2-28-L2MGMT-MIB

OID (symbolic): DES1228MEv2-28-L2MGMT-MIB::swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.116.2.2.1.2.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether the SNMP entity is permitted to generate authenticationFailure traps. The value of this object overrides any configuration information; as such, it provides a means whereby all authenticationFailure traps may be disabled.

Note that it is strongly recommended that this object be stored in non-volatile memory so that it remains constant across re-initializations of the network management system.

What is swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps?

Master switch for SNMP authenticationFailure traps, enabled(1) or disabled(2). When disabled it overrides any other configuration and no such traps are sent, so it is how you silence (or turn on) alerts for polls using a wrong community string or credentials. The source recommends storing it in non-volatile memory so it survives restarts.
