dellNetFpIfIngPortSTPnotFwdDrops

Module: DELL-NETWORKING-FPSTATS-MIB

OID (symbolic): DELL-NETWORKING-FPSTATS-MIB::dellNetFpIfIngPortSTPnotFwdDrops

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6027.3.27.1.13.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: Packets dropped due to Spanning Tree State not in forwarding state.

What is dellNetFpIfIngPortSTPnotFwdDrops?

This read-only Counter64 reports the number of packets dropped because Spanning Tree Protocol had the receiving port in a state other than forwarding (e.g. blocking, listening, or learning), counted on this specific physical interface (this row is indexed by ifIndex/port, unlike the chassis-wide dellNetFpDrops* counters which aggregate the same reasons across the whole switch). This is a Broadcom-style switch-ASIC hardware drop counter: an admin troubleshooting unexplained packet loss walks this whole family of counters (Ingress*, Eg*, MMU*) looking for whichever one is actually incrementing, since that pinpoints the specific stage of the forwarding pipeline (STP state, ACL policy, buffer exhaustion, CRC error, TTL, etc.) where packets are being discarded, rather than just seeing generic interface drops.
