acctThreshold

Module: DECserver-Accounting-MIB

OID (symbolic): DECserver-Accounting-MIB::acctThreshold

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1.36.2.18.12.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object controls when the managed system generates an accounting trap. A trap will be generated by the managed system whenever logging another record will take it beyond the specified physical points in the log. For example, the value quarter(4) causes the managed system to generate a trap when logging an entry takes it beyond the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or end of the log.

The managed system maintains the value of this object across power-cycles and reboots, although setting it changes the behavior of the managed system immediately.

What is acctThreshold?

This read-write integer sets how far into the accounting log's capacity the device tracks before firing an acctThresholdExceeded trap, with values like half(3), quarter(4), or eighth(5) marking fractional watch points, or none(1) to disable the trap entirely. It lets an admin get proactively notified as the accounting log fills up rather than discovering later that old records were silently overwritten. For example, setting acctThreshold to quarter(4) makes the DECserver send a trap each time logging crosses the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full marks of the log.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1.36.2.18.12.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> DECserver-Accounting-MIB::acctThreshold

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1.36.2.18.12.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> DECserver-Accounting-MIB::acctThreshold.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1.36.2.18.12.1.4.1 i <value>
