acctEntryAccess

Module: DECserver-Accounting-MIB

OID (symbolic): DECserver-Accounting-MIB::acctEntryAccess

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1.36.2.18.12.2.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This object indicates its entry's access. The value local(2) means the record is associated with a local access log-in or session connect. The value remote(3) indicates the record is associated with a remote access log-in or session connect. The value notApplicable(1) means the entry is not a log-in or session connection record.

What is acctEntryAccess?

This read-only integer indicates whether this accounting entry corresponds to a local(2) or remote(3) login/session-connect event, or notApplicable(1) if the entry isn't a login or connect record at all. Admins use it to distinguish activity originating from someone physically at the console versus someone connecting in over the network, which matters when assessing the risk of a suspicious login. For example, a loginPasswordFail entry with acctEntryAccess set to remote(3) tells the admin the failed attempt came in over the network rather than from a directly attached terminal.
