Category: Device Management, Hardware and Environment

Description: Manages remote management access and control for DCS3 chassis platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DCS3RMT-MIB?

DCS3RMT-MIB is a Dell enterprise MIB for remote management access on DCS3-class server chassis/baseboard hardware, indicated by its server3/baseboard naming and Dell OID root, similar in spirit to Dell's DRAC-style remote access controllers. It exposes a remoteAccessTable that tracks, per chassis and adapter, the type of remote access interface present, its capabilities, current settings, and operational status. Key monitoring value comes from remoteAccessStatus (whether the remote access controller/adapter is functioning), along with remoteAccessProductInfoName and remoteAccessVersionInfoName, which let administrators verify firmware/hardware identity and version of the management controller itself. It is a self-contained Dell enterprise-specific MIB, typically used alongside other Dell server MIBs (chassis health, baseboard sensors) for full server hardware monitoring. This MIB is deployed in data center environments managing Dell server hardware, where IT staff need to confirm out-of-band remote management interfaces are present, correctly configured, and healthy. Engineers can download the DCS3RMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DCS3RMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell PowerEdge / DCS3-class server chassis
  • Dell server baseboard management controllers

Monitoring Examples

An admin polling remoteAccessTable would index by remoteAccessChassisIndex and remoteAccessAdapterIndex to enumerate each remote-access adapter in a chassis, checking remoteAccessType and remoteAccessStatus to confirm the controller is operational. If remoteAccessStatus reports a fault or the adapter drops from the table, it suggests the remote management interface has failed or been removed, which would cut off out-of-band access to that server. remoteAccessVersionInfoName would be checked to confirm the management firmware version matches the fleet baseline.

What Can Be Monitored

  • remote access adapter status
  • remote access type/capabilities
  • remote management firmware version
  • remote access product identity
  • control capability settings
