What is cxPhyIfType?

This value reports the physical interface type of a given port, chosen from a long vendor-defined list covering serial standards, ISDN variants, voice interfaces, Ethernet and Token Ring, and several proprietary I/O module types specific to this chassis family. Administrators use this to determine what kind of physical connectivity a given port actually provides before assigning cabling or configuring protocol-specific settings. For example, a port reporting type ethernet(15) would be a standard Ethernet port, while one reporting fxs-voice(12) would be an analog voice port expecting a phone or PBX trunk connection.
