cxOsNbBufs

Module: CXOperatingSystem-MIB

OID (symbolic): CXOperatingSystem-MIB::cxOsNbBufs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.5.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Determines the total number of data buffers to be created within the system. System heap memory is reduced as the number of buffers is increased. Range of Values: Depends on amount of installed system DRAM, as well as on requirements made by software during initialization. Cannot be set to a value larger than the one chosen for object cxOsNbSystemMsg. Default Value: 1200

What is cxOsNbBufs?

This read-write integer determines the total number of data buffers created within the system, defaulting to 1200; increasing it reduces available system heap memory, and it cannot be set larger than cxOsNbSystemMsg. Admins tune this to balance data-buffer availability for packet handling against overall free heap memory, based on installed DRAM. For example, an admin raises this from the default 1200 to handle a workload with more concurrent packet buffering, provided cxOsNbSystemMsg is set high enough to accommodate it.

Examples
