cxCdProtocol
Module: CXConsoleDriver-MIB
OID (symbolic): CXConsoleDriver-MIB::cxCdProtocol
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.6.5
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: Determines the protocol (configuration method) for the console port.
The setting of this object is dynamic. The console port immediately implements the option you enter. However, if you change the protocol you are currently using to configure the port your connection will be lost.
Options: localConsole (1): you use this protocol when you attach a TTY terminal directly to the console port. This protocol requires you to use command line configuration. You also must enter a password to gain access to the configuration tables. You can define the password using the object uiPassword of the CXUserInterface Table.
ppp (2): you use this protocol when you are configuring via a windows-based application such as HP/OV (Hewlett Packard-OpenView).
Default Value: ppp (2)
Configuration Changed: operative
What is cxCdProtocol?
This object selects the configuration protocol for the physical console port, either local-console mode for a directly-attached TTY terminal using command-line configuration, which requires a separate password, or ppp mode for connecting via a Windows-based network-management application like HP OpenView. An admin sets this to localConsole when physically at the device with a terminal, or to ppp when instead configuring the unit through a PPP-based management application, and switching away from the protocol currently in use will disconnect that session. For example, setting cxCdProtocol to ppp(2) to allow configuration via an HP OpenView-style management tool would immediately disconnect a technician currently configuring the box over a direct local-console TTY session.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.6.5 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CXConsoleDriver-MIB::cxCdProtocol
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.6.5.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CXConsoleDriver-MIB::cxCdProtocol.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.6.5.1 i <value>
SNMPv3 example:
snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> cxCdProtocol.1
