portMapCapability

Module: CTRON-PORTMAP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-PORTMAP-MIB::portMapCapability

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.16.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This indicates the technology ability of the local hardware. The value of this object is the logical OR of all supported technologies, where each technology is given the values below:

other(1) Undefined, or ability not known Auto-Negotiation(2) Auto-Negotiation 10BASE-T(4) 10BASE-T 100BASE-TX(8) 100BASE-TX 1000BASE(16) 1000BASE

For example, a port that has the capability of supporting 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX would have a value of 12 (4 + 8).

What is portMapCapability?

This value is a bitmask reporting which Ethernet speed and negotiation technologies a port's hardware is physically capable of supporting, such as 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, or 1000BASE, combined using logical OR. An admin decodes this value to understand a port's maximum hardware capability before deciding what operational mode to configure it for. For example, a value of 12 (4+8) indicates the port supports both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX, but not 1000BASE or auto-negotiation.

Examples
