This counter reports how many times Layer 1 has qualified, meaning sustained for the full integration period, a Loss of Signal condition on this WAN line. A qualified LOS event means the line genuinely lost its physical signal for a meaningful duration rather than a brief glitch, so a nonzero and growing count points an admin toward a real cabling or carrier circuit problem rather than transient noise. An admin seeing lsLayer1LOS increase from 0 to 5 overnight on a T1 line would investigate the physical connection or contact the carrier about a possible outage on that circuit.
