This counter reports how many times Layer 1 has qualified a Loss of Frame condition on this WAN line, indicating the receiver lost frame synchronization with the incoming signal for a sustained period. Persistent LOF events usually point to framing format mismatches, such as ESF versus D4, or clocking problems between the device and its carrier, which an admin would investigate by checking line configuration against what the far end expects. A jump in lsLayer1LOF right after a carrier-side equipment change would lead an admin to verify the framing type configured on both ends of the T1/E1 circuit.
