Module: CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpPortPathCost

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.6.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The contribution of this port to the path cost of paths towards the spanning tree root which include this port. 802.1D-1990 recommends that the default value of this parameter be in inverse proportion to the speed of the attached LAN.

What is ctPvstStpPortPathCost?

This read-write integer, ranging 1 to 65535, sets the contribution this port makes to the total path cost toward the spanning tree root for this VLAN, conventionally set in inverse proportion to the port's link speed per 802.1D-1990 recommendations. An administrator adjusts this to influence which redundant path the spanning tree prefers for a given VLAN, favoring higher-bandwidth links by assigning them lower cost. For example, to make a 10-gigabit uplink the preferred path over a 1-gigabit backup for a VLAN, the admin sets a much lower path cost value on the 10-gigabit port's instance.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.6.1.6
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpPortPathCost

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.6.1.6.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpPortPathCost.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.6.1.6.1 i <value>
