Module: CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB
OID (symbolic): CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpBridgeMaxAge
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.5.1.13
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: The value that all bridges use for MaxAge when this bridge is acting as the root. Note that 802.1D-1990 specifies that the range for this parameter is related to the value of ctPvstStpBridgeHelloTime. The granularity of this timer is specified by 802.1D-1990 to be 1 second. An agent may return a badValue error if a set is attempted to a value which is not a whole number of seconds.
What is ctPvstStpBridgeMaxAge?
This read-write integer, constrained to 600-4000 hundredths of a second and only meaningful when this bridge is the root, sets the MaxAge value that this bridge tells all other bridges in the VLAN's spanning tree to use. An administrator tunes this to control how long stale STP information persists network-wide before being discarded, balancing loop-detection speed against tolerance for transient link issues. For example, an admin shortens this value on the root switch for a VLAN with frequent minor link blips to make the tree less tolerant of stale root information and recover topology faster.
