Module: CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpBridgeHelloTime

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.5.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The value that all bridges use for HelloTime when this bridge is acting as the root. The granularity of this timer is specified by 802.1D- 1990 to be 1 second. An agent may return a badValue error if a set is attempted to a value which is not a whole number of seconds.

What is ctPvstStpBridgeHelloTime?

This read-write integer, constrained to 100-1000 hundredths of a second and effective only when acting as root, sets the Hello Time that all bridges participating in this VLAN's spanning tree will adopt from this bridge, with the granularity required to be whole seconds by 802.1D-1990. An administrator adjusts this to control how often the root advertises its presence via Configuration BPDUs across the whole VLAN topology. For example, to speed up failure detection on a VLAN's spanning tree, the admin lowers this from the 200 (2-second) default toward the minimum, provided it results in a whole-second value.
