ctPvstStpBridgeForwardDelay

Module: CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpBridgeForwardDelay

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.5.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The value that all bridges use for ForwardDelay when this bridge is acting as the root. Note that 802.1D-1990 specifies that the range for this parameter is related to the value of ctPvstStpBridgeMaxAge. The granularity of this timer is specified by 802.1D-1990 to be 1 second. An agent may return a badValue error if a set is attempted to a value which is not a whole number of seconds.

What is ctPvstStpBridgeForwardDelay?

This read-write integer, constrained to 400-3000 hundredths of a second and effective only when this bridge is root, sets the Forward Delay value propagated to all bridges in this VLAN's spanning tree, related by spec to the configured Bridge MaxAge. An administrator tunes this to control network-wide convergence speed for the VLAN, trading faster port transitions to Forwarding against increased loop risk during topology changes. For example, on a stable, well-monitored VLAN, the admin might lower this from the default toward the 400 minimum to speed up recovery after planned maintenance.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpBridgeForwardDelay

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.5.1.15.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctPvstStpBridgeForwardDelay.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.2.2.5.1.15.1 i <value>
