This read-write enumerated integer selects whether the bridge translates Novell Token Ring packets into plain Ethernet or IEEE 802.3 SNAP framing on the CSMA/CD side, a selection overridden by the auto-learned format when ctBridgeTransTrEnetAutoMode is enabled and the format has been learned. An administrator sets this as the default translation format for Novell IPX traffic when the bridge hasn't yet auto-learned a specific host's frame format. For example, on a network of older Novell NetWare servers known to use classic Ethernet framing, the admin sets this object to ethernet(1) to ensure correct default translation.
