ctBridgeTransTrEnetNovAdd

Module: CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-BRIDGE-MIB::ctBridgeTransTrEnetNovAdd

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.2.3.7.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object selects the bit ordering of the Hardware Addresses located in the 'data field' of a Token Ring NOVELL packet. The 'data field' includes all bytes of the packet excluding the MAC Header and CRC. The Hardware Addresses in the MAC Header are always MSB for Token Ring packets. The default value is 2.

What is ctBridgeTransTrEnetNovAdd?

This read-write enumerated integer sets the bit ordering, most-significant-bit-first or least-significant-bit-first, used for Hardware Addresses embedded in the data field of a Token Ring Novell packet, noting that Hardware Addresses in the MAC header itself are always MSB-ordered for Token Ring; the default is lsb(2). An administrator adjusts this to match the byte-ordering convention expected by the Novell IPX stack on the receiving segment, since a mismatch corrupts embedded address fields during translation. For example, if Novell clients on the Ethernet side report garbled source addresses after translation, the admin toggles this object between msb(1) and lsb(2) to correct the ordering.
