stRootID

Module: CTATX-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTATX-MIB::stRootID

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.3.4.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

What is stRootID?

This read-only OCTET STRING, though its source description is empty, holds the Bridge Identifier of the spanning tree root currently elected on the network, as learned from received BPDUs. An administrator reads it to verify which physical bridge is currently acting as the network's spanning tree root. For example, the admin reads stRootID and finds it does not match this device's own stBridgeId, confirming a neighboring switch, not this ES/1, is currently the root.
