What is snmpsmtUpstreamReq?
This read-write OCTET STRING, though its source description is empty, mirrors the documented fddismtUpstreamReq object and, when written with an FDDI address, triggers an SMT NIF request to determine that station's upstream neighbor on the ring via SNMP without requiring a specific board index. An administrator uses it to kick off an upstream-neighbor discovery on the FDDI ring. For example, the admin writes a station's FDDI address into snmpsmtUpstreamReq to have the ES/1 determine which neighboring station feeds it on the ring.
