Description: The maximum packet size, in bytes (octets), which may be transmitted through this port. This parameter may not be changed, except for PPP ports, in which case, changing sifMaxPacketSize automatically causes ifMtu and pppLinkLocalMRU to change.
What is sifMaxPacketSize?
This read-write INTEGER sets the maximum packet size, in bytes, that may be transmitted through this port, and on PPP ports changing it automatically updates ifMtu and pppLinkLocalMRU as well. An administrator generally cannot change this on most port types but can on PPP links to work around MTU issues. For example, the admin lowers sifMaxPacketSize on a PPP port to work around a path-MTU issue, confirming ifMtu and pppLinkLocalMRU updated automatically as documented.
