kxadminGetPass

Module: CT-ELS100-MIB

OID (symbolic): CT-ELS100-MIB::kxadminGetPass

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.8.3.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: The authentication password (0-24 bytes) which must match the community name in an SNMP Get PDU (except for Debug or password parameters). A zero length password indicates that any community name is acceptable. Alternatively, it is acceptable if the community name matches configAnyPass.

What is kxadminGetPass?

This read-write OCTET STRING holds a password that must match the community name in SNMP Get requests, other than debug or password parameters, with a zero-length value permitting any community name, and a request is also accepted if its community matches kxadminAnyPass instead. An admin can use this to set a separate, potentially looser access password specifically for read (Get) operations while keeping a stricter password on kxadminAnyPass for other operation types. For example, an admin wanting to allow broad read-only monitoring access while restricting configuration changes would set kxadminGetPass to a widely shared community string while keeping kxadminAnyPass restricted to a smaller admin-only community.
